Hello, I'm a guy learning about networking and all that stuff, mainly by playing around with things, and i've come into a logical snag:
The dump command, which is global (can be used in any context) displays and supposedly restarts one's net configurations. As well, if used with " %26gt; filename", can put all of the dump info into a file.
For example:
dump %26gt; C:\config.txt
So almost all tutorials have been saying. However, no matter how I try, with either %26gt; or "-" as some other sites have said, I cannot use netsh, while logged into it, to dump into a physical file.
However, if I'm in the plain cmd shell, I can use this command:
netsh -c interface dump %26gt; c:\location1.txt
That *does* make a file! And that command literally means to go into netshell, then the interface context, then dump into a file. However, doing the same thing within onto the interface context:
dump %26gt; location2.txt
It just "dumps" like normal. Please tell me why? Thank you very much.
Windows XP netsh "dump" only works outside...not in?
good luck
