Two metal cubes, with 2 cm sides, between 2 walls, one held at 100 C and the other at 0 C. The cubes are lead and silver.
a. Find the total thermal current through the cubes.
b. Find the temperature at the interface.
Total thermal current?
See the following reference:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermal_con...
ka (lead) = 35.4
kb(silver)=429
Note that this is a poorly defined problem
because there wll be two temperature at the interface.
One for the lead and one for the silver.
See the graph in that example:
There is also an equation there to plug the numbers into.
Actually...if you assume no contact resistance
then remove the 1/(hc*A) portion of the equation.
Since it wasn't mentioned...assume it is zero.
