Windows vista programming??

What type of programmable language was used to create Windows Vista?? Was it C++ or C what language created the whole interface? I know it has or uses 64 bit Applications, I just wanted to know how it was created, with what type of language and how many lines it needed to create??

Windows vista programming??
I have never seen the source code so I'm giving you what I know from other Microsoft Windows versions and some conjecture from someone that has a pretty good idea.

The Windows environments and operating systems from the first have used C as the language for most of the API's and some assembly language for speed optimization and close hardware control where needed. Now, it would be my (sort of) educated guess that Vista did not suddenly quit using the huge code base that the company has invested in for years, but that the solidest parts of it were rewritten to maintain 64 bit execution and the other new GUI and most of the kernel and attendant system are totally new. Some parts of a kernel would be very similar to the XP forerunner, but still not much legacy code there.

How many lines of code? Well, that I just can't answer. To the best of my estimation, this is as big as any other project I've ever heard of being tackled in programming.

thank you cards
