Computer interfacing question?

I have a circuit with no logic just electrical current and I would like to be able to control it with my computer.

I will need to be use the computer to switch on/off a few relays and record the voltage between two wires at a high sample rate. So my computer will need to read input data.

I have some experiance with programming c/vb but no expirience with interfacing. However I am willing to learn

What is the best way to achive this?

Should I look at usb or serial?

Is there a simple solution that doesn't require an external chip to process data?

Is there any small ready-made circuits designed pesificaly for this?

Thanks for your time.

Computer interfacing question?
hey i hear you question and i have a kinda straight folward answer. i have a friend who did the same thing and he used a usb stacking MOS chips. it is offered in amiture TFT lcd building kits and the programing is using hyper terminal. im not too sure where to find it but it might lead u in the right direction.
